When your viewer is watching your stream, they may have intermittent or unreliable internet that makes it impossible to view a high quality HD stream. When this happens, the stream will switch to a lower quality stream so they can still watch without interruption.

In order for this to be possible, you have to send not just one stream, but multiple streams with different bitrates from your encoder. If you'd like to see how to set up multiple bitrates, click here. This does take a lot more CPU and bandwidth on your part, and start up costs for this can be high. Instead, you can choose to utilize our live transcoding service, where you can send us one high quality stream, and we will create the other bitrates for you.
