Setting up Facebook Live

Streaming to Facebook Live is extremely simple when using Stream Monkey's live transcoding service.  To get started, log in to the Dashboard and head over to "Live Streams". Next to your transcoder stream, click "Options" and then "Facebook Live"

You may see a screen that looks like this:

If you do, then you need to first go to Accounts and Integrations to link your Stream Monkey account to your Facebook Live account. If your accounts are linked, you'll see this instead:

Click on Create New Post, and it will give you the option to Create a New Post, or Choose a scheduled post. This article will explain the first.

Create New Post

Choose to go live now on a page, timeline, group, or event.

Choose a location from the dropdown menu. If you don't have anything in the drop down, check your Facebook settings to make sure that you have permission to post to your desired location. You can put in your Title and Description, and then when you're done, hit Create. Whatever you put in the description will be what shows up on your FB page most prominently. It will let you choose to preview the player first, or to immediately go live.

If you are not currently sending a stream, then nothing will show up on your FB page or in the Preview window until you start streaming.

If you choose to Go Live, once your stream has connected, you will see this message in the Dashboard:

It will also show as Live in this window.

If you choose to Preview your stream first, it will look like this:

Click on Preview Stream, and you should be able to see your stream in the preview box. If everything looks good, you can then click to Go Live.

Once you are finished streaming, simply stop your stream from the encoder and it will stop the FB live stream. You can also go in to the Facebook Live window and hit "Remove."

And that's all there is to it. If you have any issues or questions please feel free to reach out to us directly!
