When you switch to our live transcoding service, the set up looks like this:
Your encoder -> Our transcoder -> CDN -> Player

Previously, you were sending directly to the CDN, but now it's making a stop at the transcoder first so we can create those additional bitrates for you.

You'll need to change the information in your encoder to send to the transcoder instead. To find your stream details, you will click on Live Monitor, select your transcoder stream from the drop down at the top of the screen, and then scroll down to the tab called Encoder. If you click directly on the Primary address listed, it will copy it to the clipboard for you.

You'll notice that there is a lot less information in there this time around. Don't worry, that's how it's supposed to look. You'll just need to change two things.

  1. Address. This has changed to send to our transcoder instead of the CDN. You'll replace the current RTMP address with this instead.

  2. Stream Name: This will usually match what you've named your stream, and will be much simpler. Your previous one included the bitrate and a bunch of numbers, whereas the new one is just the name.

That's it! A username and password are no longer needed; we take care of that for you. You also don't need to worry about sending to a backup address. We take care of that too.

Please note that if you have previously been sending multiple bitrates, you'll need to tell your encoder to only send us one (the higher) stream.

As always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or need any additional help!
