Having an audio only stream option for your viewers can help if you commonly have issues with viewers who do not have (or do not want to use) the internet bandwidth required to view a video stream.

This process will create an audio only bitrate from your current live stream. It does need to be viewed in a separate player (embed code) from your video live stream.

  • Please contact us if you would like to enable this option, and we'll set your stream up to create an audio only bitrate. This option is available on both transcoder and non-transcoder streams for no additional charge.
  • For your video stream, you will need to add a query to your embed code to block the audio only bitrate (the player does not play nice having both audio only and video/audio bitrates all in the same place).  The query is: ?__a__=off, so your embed will look like this:

<div class="smEmbed" style="padding: 0 0 56.25% 0;position: relative;height: 0;overflow: hidden;"><iframe src="//player.streammonkey.com/5e0907247103e?__a__=off" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" style="position: absolute; top: 0;left: 0;width: 100%;height: 100%;" allow="autoplay" allowfullscreen webkitAllowFullScreen mozAllowFullscreen></iframe></div>

  • For your audio only stream, you will need to only allow that bitrate, so you will add this query to the end of your iframe: ?range=0-200. Your embed code will look like this:

<div class="smEmbed" style="padding: 0 0 56.25% 0;position: relative;height: 0;overflow: hidden;"><iframe src="//player.streammonkey.com/5e0907247103e?range=0-200" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" style="position: absolute; top: 0;left: 0;width: 100%;height: 100%;" allow="autoplay" allowfullscreen webkitAllowFullScreen mozAllowFullscreen></iframe></div>

Please note that these exact embed codes are only examples. You will need to pull the real embed code from the Details button in your Stream Monkey account, and add in the queries like above.
